ON VOLUNTEERISM IN A CHURCH
by Pas Joel Yong, in his Facebook page
I try
to stay away from using the term 'volunteers' in Church.
Because we aren't really so.
We volunteer in a RC or in our kids' primary school as a parent.

We volunteer in a RC or in our kids' primary school as a parent.
But
we don't volunteer in a church.
It isn't a place that should be begging us to serve and we aren't doing THE church a favor when we serve.

Nope.
We serve because we love God. Period.
We aren't doing Him a favor.
He's doing us a favor by calling us to serve Him.

We aren't doing Him a favor.
He's doing us a favor by calling us to serve Him.
Therefore, if we are called to serve, let us give our
best.
That means preparing to serve, before the day even comes.
Make a note of when we are serving - be it as a Children Ministry teacher, a Scripture Reader or a Worship Leader or even as a PA crew.
Mark that date down, set a reminder in our phones - and then rest well the day before and come early, prepared to serve the next day.
Pray that God will use the efforts of our hands and the gift which comes from our hearts.

Don't
give God half-hearted servitude.
Give Him the best.
After all, He gave you His Son - while you and I were still sinners.
