Thoughts on Bible Reading: Ezra6 & Acts6 [shared by Andrew]

What struck me about today's reading of Ezra 6 was v22 where it records that God filled the people with joy by changing the attitude of the Assyrian king.

It's more evidence of God's sovereignty and power in working the miracle to have the Assyrian king Darius proactively protect the Jews.

Thot for me: what step(s) can I take to better experience the joy of the Lord?

For me I think it means to try to make it for the 7.30 pm Wesley prayer session tonight.

Acts 6 describes Stephen, despite speaking with wisdom, yet being killed by having others throw stones at him.  His face is described as "being like an angel" as he is killed.

I think this means that Stephen too found joy even under the most trying of circumstances.

Thot for me: how can I better have the courage to see things from God's eternal perspective and better experience His joy rather than being emotionally bogged down in the daily challenges that I may face today?

For me I think it means praying for the meetings, projects, emails, and people I will be meeting today and setting time to be quiet to listen to the Lord. [andrew]
